Healing is a journey. While some people may seem like they have it all together, most of us have struggled with our mental health, physical health, moods, relationships, and self-esteem at some point in our lives. I assure you, you are not alone. Wherever you are on your healing journey, I welcome you to reach out to see if Moonstone Counseling can support you on your way.

Hello there, My name is Lynden Grothe and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in private practice in Anchorage, Alaska. I am originally from Kodiak Island, but I have done stints abroad for leisure, education, trainings, and work opportunities. I see clients in person and via telehealth from my office which is conveniently located in historic downtown Anchorage within walking distance of the Coastal Trails, coffeeshops, and public transportation. I am currently equipped to welcome clients ages 12 and up.
I have been working and volunteering in the mental health and human services field for over 14 years. I have experience assisting a myriad of clients with diverse backgrounds and issues including: trauma, anxiety, PTSD, depression, eating disorders, family disruption due to divorce or separation, domestic abuse, addiction, insomnia, grief, women’s issues, and relationship and co-parenting issues to name a few. I have worked in a number of different settings including crisis lines, non-profits, government agencies, inpatient clinics, and private practice. For the past 5 years, I have facilitated group therapy sessions in an inpatient addiction rehabilitation clinic in Spenard.
I approach therapy with a warm, relational, holistic, bottom-up, trauma-informed approach drawing from a number of different modalities, techniques, and theories. Ultimately, I tailor sessions to the individual. I have completed trainings in Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Brainspotting, and Havening. I have also completed the Level 3 practicum in Gottman Marriage and Couple’s Counseling. I am currently attending the High Conflict Institute to learn how to coach clients in BIFF communication style, which is beneficial for people who struggle with co-parenting communication. In addition, I am a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS-I) through the National Anger Management Association, a trained Simplicity Parenting Coach and a Registered Yoga Teacher.
I frequently attend trainings and consult with experienced professionals and experts to keep my skills contemporary, science-informed, and ethical using best practice. While therapy is not always easy or comfortable, I want clients to leave my office feeling safe, supported, and grounded with applicable skills and new confidence in themselves.
On a personal note, I am a cat person who also likes dogs and enjoys drinking tea and eating chocolate. My favorite color is gold and my favorite show is Gilmore Girls.
